Quality Control - Career Description
A Technologist in a quality control position is responsible for making sure that products, materials and equipment used in the manufacturing process meet all specifications. This person will analyze blueprints, data, manuals and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and the measuring instruments required. They apply that information to inspect, test and or measure specific products and installation to make sure they are within specification compliance. The Technologist may use a variety of tools and measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers to analyze test data and make computations as necessary to determine test results. The Technologist will notify supervisors and other personnel of any non-conformance/ compliance problems and assist in necessary corrective actions. He or she keeps records of inspection results and tracks results of corrective actions. The Technologist also marks items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status. The Technologist is a key position in the quality control process for any manufacturing company. |
